I have started to write to you about stress and also anxiety as part of a parent’s life, as I am going through it quite a bit myself. I hope by writing from a perspective of one parent to another, to give you a bit of inspiration, some food for thought to check in with yourself and possibly make some better life choices.
A bit on a personal note:
After having had my baby girl Moira and having left my corporate job with the regular payslip at the end of each month I felt the time was right to pursue my passion and trying to make a living from activities that I love. And that can be quite a beautiful but also a nerve-wrecking experience. Supporting you and your families in leading happy, healthy and meaningful lives is what I love doing. All the facets of it. 😊
Some nerve-wrecking bits are finding a new routine (and for whatever reason that is very challenging to me), the uncertainty of where the road will take me, figuring out a lot of new things, how to make them work and getting me out of my comfort zone, finding ways to pay my bills, and on and on…all that combined with family life, looking after the house….. I guess I don’t have to elaborate more… 😉 And then there is life with a nearly 2 year old in the house and all the challenges that the little ones throw at you – that gets my head and blood pressure racing sometimes too.
And although your situation might be different to mine, I am sure you have your challenges too. We are in it together. You are not alone.
We as parents have to keep going, even when our little ones are sick and we get hardly any sleep. We do not have much of a choice, right?!
I have recently heard a mum friend reminisce about how she couldn’t imagine life without her 8 hours of sleep every night and how that panned out once her first child was born 😉 Haha, I was the same! How about you?? And now, after who-knows-how-long, we get by with very little sleep.
But sleep is sooooooo important. Without enough sleep, at least some decent amount, it’s really hard to cope with life.
We don’t have any energy to do our things in the day and have patience with the kids. Taking breaks can be tough to re-charge during the day. And I hope that this email makes sense, writing with my sleep deprived brain (sick and clingy child “syndrome”) 😉
I am not getting further into research and all that today. I will keep that to a different day. Nevertheless, by sleeping better (quality is just as important- if not even more essential) we set up our body and minds for the day and it is easier and quicker to get things done, never mind being happier.
Have a think about how you and your dear ones could improve on sleep habits and hours during the week?
Could you potentially change screen habits?
What food do you eat and when?
Do you move enough in the day? Exercise? Now that the weather gets better and warmer we could do so much more outside.
There are so many factors to a good sleep routine. And there is always room for improvement. Let’s explore together.
I would love to hear from you and how you are getting on. What are your tips and tricks for a better night’s sleep?
Have a good sleep tonight!
Love and light,
Pia
